our view on use of cannabis by adults
Our view is simple, medical or recreational, regardless, adults should have access to, and the right to responsibly consume cannabis.
Cannabis is a beneficial medicine, containing active compounds, chemicals, and terpenes. Cannabis has been legal to prescribe, in the UK, since 2018 and there are over 30,000 patients using the medication for various symptoms caused by a wide range of illnesses and disabilities. We witness patients returning to work, or gaining a better quality of life from improved mobility, and others reporting they are enjoying a returning confidence from reduced anxiety. While across the world there is growing evidence that legalisation of cannabis leads to a reduction in crime and has been seen to have a markedly positive impact in communities and areas where legalisation has been passed.
As a group of cannabis experts, medical users, and recreational specialists, we believe it is partly our responsibility to help mature the cannabis conversation. We reach out to the wider public and support those seeking information and advice in our areas of knowledge.
We believe that responsible cannabis use, by adults, has no negative impact on society, we believe it actually provides positive opportunities. From the known benefits of using medical cannabis to reduce harm and improve lives, of those with certain anxiety disorders, chronic pain patients, reducing nausea in cancer sufferers, supporting victims through opiate withdrawal to a wide range of anecdotal benefits such as the sense of calm users claim to gain from consuming right through and a reduction in violent crime.
The benefits society gains from responsible cannabis use are great, stopping funds from reaching organised crime, protecting those involved in corrupt large scale production, reducing the cost of policing. Through education the communities users live in will be more tolerant, understanding the rights and needs of patients, and the real risks and issues surrounding cannabis, and what responsible use looks like.
